Remaining Engineering Infrastructure Works for Pak Shek Kok Development, Package 2D

Client : Civil Engineering and Development Department

Period : 2007-2011

Concentric teamed up with Paul Y. to form a Joint Venture which was awarded the contract for the Engineering Infrastructure Works for Pak Shek Kok Development. Key deliverables included the construction of:

  • approximately 65 meters long and 10.3 meters wide single two lane- carriageway connecting to the road network in Pak Shek Kok;
  • approximately 510 meters long and 10.3 meters wide single two-lane carriageway at Pak Shek Kok and Tai Po Areas 12 and 39;
  • approximately 250 meters long elevated vehicular bridge spanning over Tolo Highway and MTR East Rail tracks; and
  • retaining walls, footpaths, cycle tracks, cycle parks, drainage works, and landscaping works.

The project team initiated and provided an alternative design using precast pre-stressing method, including redesign of foundation, to replace the conforming in-situ construction of vehicular bridge. The alternative design was successfully executed to mitigate traffic impacts and risks to the busy Tolo Highway and MTR East Railway which respectively carries max. 6,300 vehicles per hour and 400,000 passengers every weekday. The biggest lifting crane of 600t capacity available in Hong Kong at the time was utilised to install the precast beams over the live railway tracks during restricted hours at nights.
